If you left because of long shifts and unsocial hours in hospital nursing, then general practice could be just what you’re looking for.
Courses and financial support
Firstly, no previous experience in General Practice Nursing is required.
Return to Nursing in General Practice courses are available across the country. They can be found in:
In Thames Valley, Wessex, Kent, Surrey and Sussex there are currently no specific return to Nursing in General Practice courses. However, support networks are in place in these areas to enable students to go through a GP practice with General Practice Nursing support.
Course fees are paid for and you’ll get up to £500 to help with travel, childcare and study material costs. You’ll also have the support of mentors and tutors throughout your course to help you through your journey back into practice and help build your confidence.
The length of your course will depend on how long you’ve been out of practice but will take no longer than 12 months.
If you’re still a registered nurse
Experience is welcomed within General Practice Nursing but not essential.
